Senior Nutrition Awareness Project

The University of Connecticut, Department of Allied Health and the Cooperative Extension System, in collaboration with the State of Connecticut, Department of Social Services are working together to improve nutrition and quality of life for Senior Citizens living in the eastern Connecticut region. The project, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, has already reached thousands of community-dwelling older adults, providing them with accurate nutrition information through various free services. These include group nutrition education workshops, healthy cooking classes, and the distribution of nutrition pamphlets.

The Senior Nutrition Awareness Project, better known as SNAP, reaches Seniors through collaborations with community agencies and senior centers.

Seniors and senior service providers may call for free nutrition education materials and recipes.

Our toll free number, 1-888-226-9944 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
